A fire destroyed five houses and damaged two others in Purok Calachuchi, Barangay 9, Bacolod City, at 3:48 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10
A total of 22 families with 44 individuals were affected.
Damage to the houses was estimated at P155,000, the Bacolod Fire Station reported.
Bacolod Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez immediately dispatched his team to the area to assist the victims, his spokesman, Councilor Caesar Distrito, said.
Benitez also provided dinner for the affected residents, distributing 150 Jollibee food packs as they had been temporarily sheltered in the barangay hall or in neighboring houses, Distrito added.
Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya also sent family food packs and warm meals to the affected families.*
