Fire hits 12 houses on Nov. 1

The fire in Brgy. 30, Bacolod City, on November 1.*

Fire hit 12 houses in Kabankalan City, Bacolod City, and Isabela in Negros Occidental on Wednesday, November 1, causing damage estimated at P445, 000.

Eight houses were destroyed and two were damaged in a fire allegedly caused by a lighted candle in Brgy. 1, Kabankalan City, Wednesday afternoon.

Fire Officer 3 John Derick Villaruz, Bureau of Fire Protection – Kabankalan chief investigator, said that the possible cause of the fire was a candle that was left at an altar.

He said the Kabankalan fire left damages estimated at P75,000 and an injured 67-year-old woman who was reported to have a first-degree burn.

The Kabankalan City government said that the fire displaced 13 families or 58 individuals.

Meanwhile, a fire also hit a boarding house in Brgy. 30, Bacolod City, at about 4:25 p.m. Wednesday.

The house owned by Celia Bayling was destroyed by a fire reportedly caused by an unattended candle.

The house had five boarders who were not present during the fire.

BFP-Bacolod estimated the damage at P270,000.

A fire also destroyed a rest house in Brgy. Libas, Isabela, 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Estimated damage to the rest house, which was made of light materials, was P100,000, the BFP-Isabela reported.

It is still conducting an investigation on the cause of the fire.*
