The annual “Festival of Lights” parade and Christmas lights switch on ceremony will be held at the Bacolod City Government Center instead of the Bacolod Public Plaza on December 2, Councilor Jason Villarosa said on Wednesday.

The Festival of Lights is held in coordination with the STI-West Negros University.

The city government has increased the P500, 000 budget for the festival of lights to P1 million, Villarosa, Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Tourism chairman, said.

The move to the BCGC will provide more space for the Festival of Lights participants, he added.

It was noted that stalls put up on the side of the plaza on the property owned by the Roman Catholic Church, which have been described as eye sores, obstruct the public’s view of the Festival of Lights.

Meanwhile, the Christmas lights at the Negros Occidental Capitol Park and Lagoon will be switched on December 13, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said.*
