President Rodrigo Duterte has declared Thursday, February 11, a special non-working day in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, that is set to mark its 23rd charter anniversary.
Proclamation 1094, signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea for the president, states that it is but fitting and proper that people of Talisay be given the full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the charter day rites, subject to community quarantine, social distancing and other public health measures.
Talisay City Administrator Jose Jonathan Ealdama said they will have no charter day program to avoid a mass gathering amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Talisay City has had 665 COVID-19 positive residents, 640 of whom have recovered, and 23 have died, the city government reported.
Talisay City has two remaining active cases and 25 COVID-19 free barangays as of today, February 9, it added.*
