A 42-year-old farmer was beheaded by his brother-in-law in a hacking incident at Purok Tamlang, Brgy. Camingawan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 14.
The victim was Sunny Dela Cruz and the suspect is Redman Tawtawan, 28, both of Brgy. Camingawan, the police said.
Initial investigation revealed that the two had a drinking session after harvesting rice crops.
A heated argument broke out but was temporarily settled.
Moments later, as Dela Cruz was about to leave, Tawtawan allegedly ran toward him and hacked him multiple times in the head and neck with a bolo, decapitating the victim.
The killing was witnessed by a neighbor, who said the attack happened suddenly and without warning.
The police immediately arrested Tawtawan who is now detained at the Kabankalan City Police Station.
The bolo used in the attack was also recovered.
Authorities said the motive was a heated misunderstanding that escalated during the drinking session.*
