Dumaguete cops nab high value target, seize P340,000 worth of shabu, firearm

A high-value individual (HVI) was arrested in a buy-bust operation that led to the seizure of P340,000 worth of suspected shabu and a firearm in Purok Kanangkaan, Barangay Bajumpandan, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, on Monday night, March 2.

Police said the suspect, identified as a high-value individual involved in illegal drug activities, was arrested after selling suspected shabu to an undercover operative.

Authorities confiscated around 50 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of P340,000.

Also recovered during the operation were the buy-bust money, a 9mm revolver, two live ammunition, and other drug-related items.

Operatives from the Dumaguete City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) conducted the anti-drug operation in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

The suspect was brought to the Dumaguete City Police Station for booking and documentation procedures.

Police said charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are now being prepared for filing in court, along with possible charges related to illegal possession of a firearm.

The Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office said the operation reflects their continued efforts to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs and loose firearms in the province.*
