
Two fires razed 33 houses and damaged nine in Bacolod City over the weekend, Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) head Richelle Verdeprado-Mangga said on Sunday, Jan. 25.
The back-to-back blazes have affected a total of 187 individuals, she reported.
The first incident occurred Saturday afternoon at Purok Tambipalad, Brgy. 10, where the flames destroyed 30 houses and left four others partially damaged, Verdeprado-Mangga said.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) – Bacolod has estimated the total property damage from this first blaze at approximately P237,500.
A second fire broke out at 4:44 p.m. on Sunday at Purok 3 Batad, Sitio Magsungay, Barangay Singcang-Airport.
Verdeprado-Mangga said that the fire destroyed three houses and damaged five more.
This second blaze also affected 11 families, comprising 38 individuals.
BFP – Bacolod investigators said the fire was caused by an electrical ignition originating from one of the residences.
The Bacolod City government through the DSSD and the office of Bacolod Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez have provided assistance to the displaced victims.*
