
Authorities dismantled a drug den and arrested three suspects, including an electrical engineer, in a joint buy-bust operation in Purok Ubos, Brgy. Poblacion 1, Dumaguete City, on Aug. 20.
The operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–Negros Island Region (PDEA-NIR) and the Dumaguete City Police Station, led to the arrest of Nilo Gomez Mondejar, alias “Bingbong,” 47, identified as the drug den maintainer, Francis Cabatuan Cuyos, alias “Engineer,” 46, an electrical engineer, and Jasper Tan Sanoy, alias “Jasper,” 22, a parking attendant.
PDEA-NIR records said the three were caught in the act inside the drug den when operatives carried out the sting operation.
Seized during the operation were nine heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing around six grams, with a standard drug price of P42,160.
Also confiscated were a marked P500 bill used in the buy-bust, drug paraphernalia, sachets with shabu residue, and aluminum foil strips.
The suspects are facing charges for violating Sections 5, 6, 7, 11, and 12 of Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PDEA also said the operation highlights the continuing campaign of law enforcement against illegal drug activities in Negros Oriental.*
