The man who was found dead in a river at Hacienda San Jose, Brgy. 6, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, on Thursday has been identified.
The victim was identified as Nimrod Calumba Benaloga, 46, of Sitio Tabeo, Barangay Linao, Tayasan, Negros Oriental, Lt. Col. John Joel Batusbatusan, Kabankalan police chief, said Friday, February 17.
Crisilda Benaloga, 41, identified the body to be that of her husband Friday afternoon, he said.
She said he left their house to go to work at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, February 14, and had to pass a river to get to their farm.
Her brother-in-law Cedric Benaloga advised her husband not to go home at 2 p.m. Tuesday because of the strong current at the river but he did not listen, she said.
She believes her husband was carried away by the strong current when he tried to cross the river.*
