DOH places NIR under Code Blue

The Department of Health (DOH) has raised a Code Blue Alert across the Negros Island Region starting November 6, following the impact of Typhoon “Tino.”

In a Facebook post on Nov. 7, DOH-Negros Island Region said the heightened alert status ensures immediate readiness and a coordinated health response in affected areas.

Under the directive, Health Emergency Response Teams (HERTs) have been deployed to evacuation sites, while personnel from the DOH–NIR Center for Health Development are being mobilized to support ongoing operations.

The DOH said 24/7 operations have been activated for all Regional, Provincial, and City Health Incident Command Systems and Health Emergency Operations Centers.

Critical supplies and commodities are also being augmented to address urgent health needs.

Health officials ordered the 12-hour reporting of health events, especially in evacuation centers, and the implementation of leptospirosis prevention and response measures.

Continuous coordination with local government units, hospitals, and other health sector partners is also in place.

Residents are advised to report health emergencies to the DOH–Negros Island Region CHD Operation Center via Globe at 0966 763 1144 or Smart at 0968 697 2072.*
