Distrito appointed BCC board member

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia has appointed former councilor Caesar Distrito as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Bacolod City College, representing the professional sector.

Distrito was appointed in place of Dr. Rebecca Filasol who resigned on September 30.

The former councilor’s term of office will be co-terminus with that of the chairman of the board, Leonardia said in Executive Order No. 75, Series of 2020.

The former councilor, who is a lawyer, said he has been teaching for the last 20 years at the University of St. La Salle, STI-West Negros University, and the National Police Commission-Philippine National Police Regional Training School, which shows how involved and biased he is towards education.

Distrito also said he is a product of the public education system.

That is why when the mayor asked him to be a member of BCC board, he accepted without hesitation, Distrito said.

“I am willing to be a volunteer, without any perks, just to be an instrument for those poor young, but dedicated and deserving students, getting a good education, via BCC,” he said.*
