Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez announced on Monday, March 11, that he has appointed Caesar Distrito, Singcang-Airport barangay captain and former city councilor, as his spokesman.
The mayor said since no double compensation will be involved in Distrito’s acting as his spokesman, he does not see any conflict in his taking on the job.
Distrito said as barangay captain he is under the direct supervision of the mayor. The mayor can designate any barangay official to perform functions as long as it is not in conflict of his duty, he added.
Distrito assured that his primary responsibility is to the residents of Sincang-Airport, as his duty as spokesman is only to respond to questions when the mayor is not available.*
