The Department of the Interior and Local Government-Negros Island Region Office in Bacolod City is expected to be fully operational in early 2025, DILG-NIR Regional Director Lailyn Ortiz said on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
They are in the process of organizing the NIR regional office and are in a transition period, she said.
They also plan to establish DILG sub-regional offices in Negros Oriental and Siquijor, Ortiz added.
The lack of funds is part of the challenge faced by the DILG-NIR and several other regional offices during the transition period, she said.
Training and recruitment of personnel for the agency’s operations in the newly established region are also ongoing, she added.*
