A dead green sea turtle was found floating near the Port of San Carlos in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, on Saturday, July 25.
The turtle was discovered near the FastCat M9 ramp along the shoreline of Brgy. 6 by a security guard while conducting his routine patrol.
Personnel of the Negros Occidental Maritime Police Station responded and documented the carcass in coordination with the Coast Guard Sub-Station San Carlos, the city’s Coastal Resource Management Division and Bantay Dagat.
The turtle measured 56 centimeters long and 52 centimeters wide.
Authorities did not disclose the possible cause of the turtle’s death.
The carcass was later disposed of following environmental and wildlife conservation protocols to prevent possible health hazards.*
