The Liberal Party Visayas in a joint statement on the 75th LP founding anniversary said what the country needs today is more “servant leaders.”
The challenge, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, is “to unite, to make a big change and to act as one nation. We are citizens who are very capable of change. Political endeavors are not only for the politicians,” their statement released today, January 18, said.
It said the present government has not responded well to the severity of the situation. ”They have made a big mess of the situation,” the statement said.
What the people need now are “servant leaders” who do not malign and insult the people, and instead protect them, the statement added.
“And most of all, we need leaders who sincerely will protect our sovereignty,” the statement said.
One particular solid example of how people have effectively helped and participated in governance, is what the Office of the Vice President has done, it added
The OVP harnessed the efforts and resources from the citizens to address the most urgent needs of our countrymen called by the present times, the statement said.
The statement quoted Vice President Leni Robredo who said: “To toil and not to seek for rest, as the uncertainties stare at us, there is one thing very clear. We can survive all these, only if we learn to be bigger than ourselves, to work more collaboratively yet more courageously. Only if we have more servant leaders who will give and not count the cost; who will fight and not heed the wounds; who will toil and not seek for rest.”
The LP Visayas said “on this 75th LP anniversary, we turn, reform, and metamorphosize towards an aggrupation of all citizens of the Philippines. LP shifted to a peoples’ party, where every citizen participates actively in governance.”
