Cops uproot marijuana plants in San Carlos

Police operatives uprooted marijuana plants in Barangay Codcod, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental Monday, February 14.

The police stumbled upon the marijuana plantation after seeing it from the roadside.

The recovered 15 marijuana plants weighed around 50 grams and had an estimated value of P6,000.

In a follow-up operation, the owner of the plantation was arrested hours later in Brgy. Codcod for possession of marijuana plants.

Nabbed was Benjie Clarion, 43.

He yielded 25 fully grown marijuana plants and 71 newly grown cannabis, with an estimated worth of P19,200.

The suspect is now in police custody, while the marijuana leaves were turned over to the provincial crime laboratory office for examination.

The suspect will face drug charges.*
