Police arrested a 47-year-old man in connection with a hacking incident that killed a carabao broker in Sitio Ronel, Barangay San Isidro, EB Magalona, Negros Occidental on Sunday, Feb. 8.
The victim, a 49-year-old married man from Brgy. San Isidro, was declared dead at the municipal health office.
Police identified the suspect as a certain “Joma,” 47, male, who was arrested following the incident.
Police investigation showed that the victim had acted as a broker in the purchase of a carabao and was on his way home when he encountered the suspect at around 11 a.m. Sunday.
Authorities said the suspect allegedly attacked and hacked the victim on the neck without apparent reason, causing his instantaneous death, before fleeing the scene.
Police said the victim was taken to the municipal health office but was pronounced dead.
The suspect is now in police custody.*
