Three men were arrested while about P408,000 worth of suspected shabu and four homemade firearms were seized in a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Handumanan, Bacolod City on Tuesday, Aug. 25.

The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region said the operation was conducted in Zone 1 and led to the arrest of one high-value individual and two street-level individuals.

Police identified the suspects only as alias “Noy,” 34, of Brgy. Handumanan; alias “Mel,” 31, also of Handumanan; and alias “Bal,” 32, of Brgy. Felisa.

Authorities said the operation stemmed from information that alias Noy was allegedly involved in the sale of illegal drugs and was also keeping several firearms reportedly obtained from customers.

Police said surveillance was conducted before an undercover transaction was arranged with the help of a confidential informant.

During the operation, alias Mel allegedly assisted Noy and acted as a doorman, while alias Bal was identified by police as an alleged customer.

Authorities recovered 22 sachets containing about 60 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of P408,000.

Police also seized one homemade .45 caliber firearm loaded with seven live rounds, three homemade .38 caliber firearms loaded with four live rounds, and a .45 caliber magazine containing seven rounds of ammunition.

A P1,000 bill used as buy-bust money and other non-drug items were also recovered.

The operation was conducted by the Bacolod City Police Office City Drug Enforcement Unit with support from the Regional Intelligence Unit, City Intelligence Unit and Police Station 10.

The three suspects are under police custody and are facing complaints for alleged violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.*
