Convergence of resilience officers of Negros Island held in Mabinay

After an almost three-year hiatus, the Alliance of Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officers of Negros Island Inc. (ADRRMONI) held a 3-day convergence in Mabinay, Negros Oriental, which ended Saturday, September 3.

The event was also co-facilitated and assisted by the Office of Civil Defense VI and the Negros Occidental Association of DRRM Officers and Practitioners (NOADROP) Inc. and hosted by the Municipality of Mabinay, Joe Recalex Alingasa Jr., ADRRMONI vice president for external affairs, said Sunday.

About 100 DRRM officers and practitioners in Negros Island participated in the event and discussed the Mt. Kanlaon Eruption Contingency Plan, Typhoon Odette Experience, 2020-2030 National DRRM Plan, establishment of the Emergency Operations Center and introduction of state of the art monitoring and surveillance systems that will complement the capabilities of local operations centers, he said.

Ma. Aletha Nogra, chief of the DRRM Program Division of the Office of Civil Defense VI, presented the salient provisions of 2020-2030 National DRRM Plan, while Engr. Joseph Paul Nogra, Operations Program Division Head of OCD VI, discussed the Contingency Plan for a Mt. Kanlaon Volcano Eruption.

Dr. Jose Yusay III, ADRRMONI president, thanked Mabinay Mayor Ernie Uy and Dindo Amorganda, DRRM Officer of Mabinay, for hosting the event.

Yusay also reiterated that the alliance will continue to foster camaraderie and borderless commitment towards the collaboration of all resilience officers in Negros Island.*PR
