Power Watch Negros will soon release a consumer’s covenant as they initiate a “Consumer Protection Movement” aimed to protect the consumers on issues affecting health and safety.
Power Watch Secretary General Wennie Sancho said on Thursday, Sept. 19, that the movement will provide protection for the general public that maybe impacted by the products or services imbued with public interest.
Among these products or services covered are water, electricity, food, transportation, where public health or safety is an issue, he said.
“Consumer protection is closely associated to the rights and welfare of the consumers”, he said, adding that it helps consumers make better choices in the marketplace and pursue complaints against businesses if and when it is necessary.*
