Coast Guard records zero incidents as ‘Oplan Biyaheng Ayos’ begins

The Philippine Coast Guard reported zero maritime incidents as it intensified port monitoring operations for Holy Week and summer travel on Monday, March 30.

Data from the Coast Guard District Southern Visayas showed 501 personnel were deployed across ports in the region.

Authorities said five motor vessels and 11 rolling cargoes were inspected during the monitoring period.

A total of 254 outbound passengers and 263 inbound passengers were recorded, along with 165 outbound and 220 inbound rolling cargoes.

No motor bancas were inspected during the period.

The Coast Guard said no untoward incidents were recorded.

Authorities have placed all districts, stations, and sub-stations on heightened alert from March 28 to April 5.

The operation is part of the Department of Transportation’s Oplan Biyaheng Ayos for Holy Week and  the summer vacation.

Officials said the move aims to ensure the safety and security of sea travelers.*
