Close to 2,000 in 4 NegOcc towns preemptively evacuated

A total of 1,953 individuals from 664 families in   four towns  in Negros Occidental preemptively evacuated due to rains   brought on by Typhoon “Inday” and the Southwest Monsoon.

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) report as of 11 a.m. Friday said  the affected residents came from 11  barangays.

 La Castellana has the highest number of displaced residents, with 1,104 persons (370 families) affected. Residents evacuated to avoid possible flooding and lahar flow in  La Castellana.

Isabela  reported  421 affected persons (141 families) across three barangays.

A total of 382 persons (139 families) in five barangays in Pontevedra  are also affected. nine evacuation centers house 329 individuals (124 families), an additional 53 individuals (15 families) are recorded as displaced outside of official centers.

Moises Padilla reported 46 affected persons (14 families). Flooding was also reported in the town.

Classes were suspended throughout Negros Oriental and in 24 local government  units in Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City.*
