CLO: More than 100 businesses face closure for lack of permits

More than 100 business establishments in Bacolod City face closure for lack of business permits, City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting Jr. said on Friday, Nov. 17.

The City Legal Office (CLO) will close down more of these establishments next week, he said.

The CLO closed down nine business establishments at Arceo Drive in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, on Thursday for lack of business permits.

The Bacolod Permits and Licensing Division (BPLD) recommended the closure of the establishments for having failed to complete the requirements for their business permit applications, or for having no permits at all, Ting said.

Ting said these establishments have already been served two notices by the BPLD and it is being determined if they have started business permit payments.

Once the BPLD recommends their closure, his office will enforce it, Ting said.

He said those who failed to pay for their business permits this year will have to pay a P5,000 penalty. If business establishment owners fail to pay for this year’s business permit, they will not be able to get one for 2024, he added.*

Most of the establishments with no business permits are eateries and coffee shops.*
