Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in Bacolod City issued a public health advisory on Friday, October 16, warning residents of a dengue alert following a noticeable rise in cases across Bacolod City.
Thirty eight out of the 50 dengue admissions—representing 76 percent of all cases—came directly from Bacolod City, data recorded by the hospital’s Emergency Department from October 1 to 14 showed.
The admitted patients are from 16 different barangays, with Barangay Handumanan recording the highest number of cases at six, followed closely by Barangay Taculing and Barangay Bata with five cases each, while 22 other cases were distributed among other barangays in Bacolod.
In response to the growing threat, the CLMMRH advisory urges the public to adopt immediate personal protection and environmental sanitation measures to prevent further mosquito breeding and transmission.
Residents are advised to protect themselves by using mosquito repellent containing DEET or picaridin, sleeping under mosquito nets especially during daytime naps, and ensuring windows and doors are secured with intact screens.
To eliminate potential mosquito habitats, household members should regularly throw out standing water from pails, flower vases, and old tires every week, keep water drums and storage containers tightly covered, clean their surroundings, properly dispose of empty cans or bottles, and trim tall grass and weeds.
CLMMRH also reminded the public to seek early medical consultation at the nearest health center or through their PhilHealth YAKAP provider at the first sign of a fever rather than waiting for the condition to deteriorate. *
