BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — In July 2025, CISV Bacolod sent three delegations to join international programs in Brazil and Norway, carrying the banner of peace, friendship, and cultural understanding.

Two Village delegations—CISV’s flagship four-week camp for 11-year-olds—traveled to São Paulo, Brazil and Bergen, Norway. Each group was composed of four children and an adult leader.
Over the course of the program, delegates lived and learned alongside children from around the world, exploring themes of diversity, human rights, sustainable development, and conflict resolution through play and experiential activities.
A highlight of the Village experience was the National Night. From traditional dances and music to Filipino games and cuisine, it gave fellow participants a taste of the country’s warmth, creativity, and heritage.
A third delegation joined a Youth Meeting in Buskerud, Norway—a dynamic two-week program for older youth focused on intercultural dialogue, leadership development, and collaborative problem-solving.
“CISV’s programs give children the chance to step into the world, build friendships beyond borders, and return home with a deeper understanding of what it means to be a global citizen,” says Carmeli Bantug-Zayco, President of the CISV Bacolod Chapter.
Founded in 1950, CISV International—formerly known as Children’s International Summer Villages—is a global nonprofit organization committed to educating and inspiring action for a more just and peaceful world. Each year, CISV brings together thousands of young people through hundreds of summer camps and programs hosted by chapters in over 60 countries.
The CISV Philippines–Bacolod chapter, established in the 1960s, has been shaping generations of global citizens through life-changing educational and cultural exchanges.
True to its mission, the chapter continues to open its doors to adult volunteers who serve as leaders, staff, and supporters for both local and international programs—offering a rare opportunity to mentor the next generation while experiencing intercultural learning firsthand.
