The Army’s 15th Infantry (Molave Warrior) commemorated their 47th Founding Anniversary on Friday, November 13, at Barangay Tiling in Cauayan, Negros Occidental.

With the theme “47 years of Embracing Genuine Transformation Geared Towards Organizational and Operational Excellence,” the anniversary was highlighted with the christening of the two former rebels’ children, a celebration of the Holy Mass, and a tree planting activity as part of the unit’s commitment to the people in its area of responsibility.

The 10-month-old baby is the second child of Albert Yanong, alias Butsoy, a former platoon Leader of North Negros Front (NNF), and squad leader of the SYP/SDG Platoon, South West Front (SWF), operating in Brgy. Sangke, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental, while the 2-month-old baby is the first child of Ritchell Oray, former finance logistics officer, squad one, platoon one of the SWF.

Yanong and Oray surrendered to the 15th IB early this year have expressed their appreciation to all the government troopers.

Meanwhile, the soldiers also planted 200 mahogany and 20 mango seedlings at the mountainous area of Barangay Tiling.

Lt. Col. Erwin Cariño, commander of the 15IB, lauded the unit’s effort and commitment for the past 47 years. “sponsoring the baptism of the former rebels children is a privilege, especially in the celebration of the 47th founding Anniversary of the battalion,” he added.

“Family is the bedrock of society, and the 15IB is always ready to help them integrate into the community. Our former rebels are already part of the Molave Warrior Family, and we are happy to see them transitioning to normal life,” Cariño said.

He also urged other NPA members to return to their families and loved ones, give life a chance, choose hope over fear and be with their family, especially during this Yuletide season, and attain the true peace they genuinely deserve.*
