They are validating a tenth possible cholera case in Bacolod City, Dr. Ma. Carmela Gensoli, City Health Officer, said Monday afternoon, October 17.

They have declared only nine positive cholera cases in Bacolod City because they do not have final data on a tenth case, she said.

Gensoli earlier said there were 10 confirmed cases in Bacolod but later clarified that they were still validating the tenth one.

The CHO confirmed that barangays Suma-ag and Granada have two cholera cases each, while Mansilingan, Alijis, Tangub, Granada and 40 have one each.

Gensoli stressed that there has been no clustering of COVID-19 cases in Bacolod City.

It appears the cholera cases have been caused by poor handling of food and lack of proper hygiene, she said.

She reiterated the need to use and drink potable and clean water only, and if possible, boil it for 3-5 minutes.

Sanitize utensils and always clean your fruits and fresh produce before preparing them, she added.

There are 118 water refiling station without permits in Bacolod City, she said.

Of the 118 there are four that have closed down and 114 whose operations were temporarily suspended until they get the necessary permits to opereate.*
