There are two new probable dengue and leptospirosis deaths in Bacolod City, the City Health Office reported Monday night, August 5.
An 18-year-old female from Barangay Estefania died from probable dengue on July 27, the CHO report said.
It was the first dengue linked death in Bacolod City this year.
Bacolod City has had 329 dengue cases from January 1 to July 27, an 11.5 percent increase from last year, the CHO added.
Meanwhile, a 47-year-old construction worker from Barangay Pahanocoy died from suspected leptospirosis on July 22 after wading in flood water, the CHO reported.
He was the fourth from Bacolod City to succumb to leptospirosis this year.
There have been 11 reported leptospirosis cases in Bacolod City from January 1 to July 27 , or a 78.4 percent decease from last year’s with 51 cases and six deaths, the CHO reported.*
