A third Bacolod resident has died from probable dengue and two others from leptospirosis, the City Health Office reported on Wednesday, August 21.
An 11-year-old female from Barangay 16 died on August 9 from probable dengue, the CHO said.
Earlier an 18-year-old female from Barangay Estefania and a 68-year-old male from Barangay Felisa also succumbed to dengue.
The CHO reported 602 dengue cases in Bacolod City from Jan. 1 to August 10, a 73.5 percent increase from last year’s 347 cases.
The top three barangays with dengue cases are Taculing with 77, Bata – 62 and Villamonte – 43.
There were also two new leptospirosis deaths in Bacolod City early this month bringing the total to six this year, the CHO reported on Monday.
The male fatalities were a 47-year-old construction worker from Barangay Pahanocoy and 24-year-old IT graduate from Barangay Estefania, the CHO said.
The leptospirosis cases in Bacolod this year are 15, a decrease by 76.2 percent from last year’s 63 and 10 deaths, the CHO report added.*
