Ceres bus hits, kills senior citizen

A 75-year-old man died after he was accidentally hit by a Ceres bus at the highway in Purok Star Apple, Brgy. Luna, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, on Thursday, Nov. 23.

The motorcycle of Carlos Bilbar, 75, was hit by a Ceres economy bus as it turned Thursday morning, a police report said.

Cadiz City Police Chief, Lt. Col. Gil John Despi, told DIGICAST NEGROS that the Ceres bus driven by Danilo Perrin Jr. of Brgy. Bug-ang, Toboso town, was going to Bacolod, while the motorcycle driven by the victim was on the same lane.

He said that the motorcycle allegedly turned to the other side of the road, which the bus driver did not notice resulting in the collision.

Perrin was freed from police custody after the reglementary period, while the bus remained impounded by the Cadiz City Police.

The family of the victim might agree on a settlement with the bus driver and Ceres, Despi said.*
