An Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign on Republic Act No. 7832, otherwise known as the “Anti-electricity and Electric Transmission Lines/Materials Pilferage Act of 1994” was conducted by Central Negros Electric Cooperative at the Northwest Inn in Bacolod City, recently.
The activity was attended by the barangay captains and representatives from the barangays within Bacolod City, a CENECO press release sad.
CENECO Corporate Planning Department Manager Norman Pollentes and Technical Services Division Chief Leo Arimas explained CENECO’s apprehension campaigns and activities, provisions, implementing rules and regulations, and penalties under RA 7832.
The event was conducted with the goal to strengthen the coop’s partnership with the local government units in CENECOs massive campaign on anti-electricity pilferage.
Since the start of the pandemic in 2019, the cooperative has been suffering from high system loss. The system loss is being charged to every consumer power bill. All mconsumers are, therefore, highly encouraged to take part in this campaign by reporting illegal activities related to electricity pilferage, the press release said.*
