Capitol to conduct COVID-19 vaccination dry run in Candoni

The Negros Occidental provincial government will conduct a COVID-19 vaccination dry run in Candoni town, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said today, February 19.

They picked Candoni because it is remote and lacks a cold storage facility, he said.

It will be a dry run how the vaccines will be delivered and residents will be transported to the vaccination center, he said.

The Candoni covered court will be used as the vaccination center, he said.

They are also coordinating with the Philippine National Police to provide security to make sure that nothing happens to the vaccines, he added.

Only enough vaccines for those who will be vaccinated in a day will be delivered, he said.

Diaz said more than a day’s supply of vaccines can be delivered to areas that have cold storage facilities.

President Rodrigo Duterte’s granting local government units permission to allocate larger amounts for the advance payment of COVID-19 vaccines is good news.

The provincial government is set to pay P4.8 million in advancement payment for the 100,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines it ordered from AstraZeneca, he said.

Meanwhile, Diaz said all local government units are already registering their health frontliners for COVID-19 vaccination.

The national government has identified frontliners as the priority sector for vaccination.

Bacolod City is also conducting registration for COVID-19 vaccination online and in the barangays.*
