Capitol improves JO, COS workers’ payment schedule

The Negros Occidental provincial government has started releasing the gratuity pay of its 1,300 job order (JO) and contract of service (COS) personnel, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said Tuesday, January 4.

The provincial government this year will also start releasing the salaries of the JO and COS personnel every 15 days, he said.

Their wages will be released at the soonest possible time and the renewal of their contracts will be made easier, Diaz said.

The provincial government will do away with requiring those renewing their contracts to submit drug test and medical examination results, and police and National Bureau of Investigation clearances again, he said.

The Negros Occidental Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved the release of funds for the gratuity pay on December 30.

COS and JOs are entitled to a one-time P5,000 incentive provided that they have rendered a total or, an aggregate, of at least four months of actual satisfactory performance of service.

Those who have rendered three months or more but less than four months will receive P4,000 each, while personnel with two months or more but less than three months, will be given P3,000.

COS and JOs with less than two months of service are entitled to P2,000.*
