‘Bring Joy’ online concert set to save 2 homes for children

Kalipay Negrense Foundation, which runs two homes for 102 disadvantaged children in Negros Occidental that are at risk of closure, is holding an online fundraising concert at 8 p.m. tomorrow, November 28.

The “Bring Joy” concert, that will feature singers Jose Mari Chan, Kuh Ledesma, and several other artists, is geared towards raising funds to save Haven Home in Bacolod City and Recovered Treasurers in Bago City, Kalipay president Anna Balcells said today, November 27.

Other artists joining the digital special concert, also being held in celebration of World Children’s Month, are Ian Veneracion, Jett Pangan, Joey Albert, Karylie, JM Rodriquez, Clara Benin, Cecile Alarcon, Tim Pavino, Joaquin Pedro Valdez, and many more, she said.

The two Kalipay residential shelters house abandoned, neglected, homeless, physically and sexually abused, out of school children, and victims of child labor and trafficking until they are reunified with their families, fostered, or adopted, she said.

Kalipay provides fun, healthy loving homes and supports communities where children are empowered and their rights are protected, she said.

“Sadly organizations like ours have been greatly affected by the global pandemic and are currently facing difficulties in sustaining the basic needs of the children in our care and are at risk of possible closure,” she said.

They have lost a lot of donors because of the COVID-19 pandemic’s effects on the economy, she said.

Balcells said she hopes the online concert will increase awareness of the need to protect children’s rights and to bring joy to disadvantaged children.

“Bring Joy” will be live-streamed on Kalipay Negrense Foundation’s Facebook page, Balcells said.*
