Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said on Saturday, August 12, that he personally paid for the a little more than P6 million shortfall in the 2022 MassKara Festival expenses.
The Bacolod Yuhum Foundation recently submitted its 2022 MassKara Festival report to the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Laws, Ordinances and Good government.
The Bacolod Yuhum Foundation raised more than P80 million for the 2022 Masskara Festival from sponsorships and events, but it was short about P6 million of its total expenses, Mate Espina, the foundation’s spokesperson, said.
The mayor said the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation, with different people in charge, will run the 2023 MassKara Festival.
There will be more financial accountability, he said.
