A victim of Typhoon “Odette“ who was one of the beneficiaries of a shelter starter kit given by Vice President Leni Robredo in Barangay Gil Montilla, Sipalay City, was injured in a vehicular accident Saturday afternoon, February 5.

Jenelyn Cardinal, 34, was standing on the side of the road about two hours after the vice president left when she was hit by a speeding tricycle, Sipalay City disaster head, Danilo Bogtae, said Saturday.

She sustained a fractured collarbone and multiple abrasions on her face.

Cardinal was rushed to the Siplay infirmary and transferred to the Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial District Hospital in Himamaylan City, he said.

She was conscious and out of danger, he said.

The driver of the tricycle surrendered to the police.

Cardinal earlier in the afternoon thanked Robredo in behalf of 50 residents of puroks Kapayas, Pinya and Lubi for the shelter starter kits she gave them to rebuild their homes destroyed by the typhoon.*
