Bacolod vax drive for minors transformed into ‘children’s party’

Freebies, cartoons and balloons welcomed kids and parents at the Bacolod Queen of Mercy Hospital during the launching of the nationwide vaccination drive for children aged 5 to 11 years old Monday, February 14.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Em Ang, Emergency Operations Center Task Force (EOC TF) executive director, took part in the event together with BQMH president Dr. Lucho Giovanni Giron and Dr. Laarni Pornan, Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office head, a press release from the Bacolod City Public Information Office, said.

Bacolod City received 10, 000 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines Saturday for the pediatric vaccination drive.

Ang said the EOC-TF aims to administer 5, 000 Covid-19 jabs in Week One of the vaccination drive.

Dr. Chris Sorongon, EOC TF deputy, spearheaded the vaccination drive at the Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City.

Sorongon was joined by Councilor Cindy Rojas, Grupo Progreso member Ed Guillem and representatives from the Department of Health.*
