The Bacolod City government unveiled a QR (quick response) code system for Bacolodnons to access information on the infrastructure projects funded by the local government unit on Thursday, Jan. 29.

Mayor Greg Gasataya said the QR code for city government projects aims to promote full transparency, accountability, and good governance.

“This initiative through Executive Order 39 is a measure to improve transparency and accountability in Bacolod City, as taxpayers deserve to know where their taxes go,” he added in a statement.

According to the city government, “with a single scan of a QR code, any Bacolodnon can access information such as what’s being built, how much it costs, who’s doing the work – both contractor and project engineer – project timeline, photos, and updates”.

Developed by the city’s Management Information Technology and Computer Services, the system also has a feedback mechanism where any Bacolodnon can provide feedback or file complaints regarding the project.

The online progress monitoring system includes a platform for citizens to send complaints, concerns and feedback regarding the projects for the city to act on these immediately.*PNA
