Bacolod shootings continue in July : One killed, 1 injured

The first two days of July were marred by two more shooting incidents in Bacolod City.

These brought the shooting incidents in Bacolod City to 15, with 13 recorded in June.

Ten persons were killed in the 13 shooting incidents in June, including two minors.

On Saturday, July 2, livestock raiser Geory Adeva, 52, of Barangay Handumanan was gunned down by a motorcycle-riding suspect along 18th Street in Barangay 5, a police report showed.

The victim, on board his motorcycle, was on his way home when the unidentified assailant tailed him and shot him in the head multiple times. He died on the spot.

Recovered from the scene were five fired bullets from an unknown firearm.

Police have yet to establish the motive for the killing.

In Barangay Estefania, businessman Rodger Hofileña, 41, survived a gun attack on Friday, July 1, that was said to be perpetrated by a resident of the area.

Maj. Ritchie Gohee, Police Station 4 chief, said the victim figured in an altercation with the suspect regarding the drainage system in their area.

The suspect remains  at large.*
