The proposed budget for the Bacolod City government in 2026 will be P4.75 billion, an increase from P4.4 billion this year, Mayor Greg Gasataya said on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
The mayor said he will submit the proposed budget to the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod on Friday.
Among the priorities are funds for an increase in city scholars and the expansion of the Bacolod Comprehensive Health Program, Gasataya said.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said he will announce the amount set for Negros Occidental’s 2026 budget after it is submitted to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan next week.
Lacson said among his priorities are the upgrading of the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH) in Silay City into a tertiary hospital and obtaining level two accreditation for the Cadiz District Hospital.
The provincial government’s medical scholars will then be asked to do their residency at the TLJPH, which will become a teaching hospital, Lacson said.*
