Bacolod Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Raymond Joseph Javier called on the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-6 and the Bacolod City Police Office to revive preventive education programs to discourage impending abusers from experimenting with illegal drugs.

Javier issued the call Wednesday, July 27, on the 20th anniversary of PDEA-6, one of Bacolod City Justice Zone 2022’s partners.

The preventive education programs would complement the approaches employed in reducing the desire to obtain and use illegal drugs and ultimately reduce the amount of drug cases being filed in court, he said.

Javier, Bacolod Justice Zone 2022 convenor, established an educational program designed to cater to the needs of youth and educational sector by tapping the University of St. La Salle-College Law Student Practitioners (LSPs) to provide their fellow students with information on the prevention and control of drug use.

A Drug Prevention and Awareness Seminar at USLS was held on Wednesday.

Resource speakers from PDEA-6, BCPO and Forensic Crime Laboratory Office 6 shared their expertise on drug identification and the ill-effects of dangerous drugs, provisions of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, drug advocacy and consequences of an arrest, Javier said.

The USLS-College of Law LSPs will be deputized to conduct drug prevention seminars for their fellow students when the university opens for face-to-face classes on August 2022, he said.

Javier said the Bacolod City Justice Zone 2022 thanks the GOJUST 2 Programme Governance in Justice for funding the seminar, USLS College of Law Dean Rosanne Gonzaga and president Bro. Kenneth Martinez for their  support, and the 32 LSPs who attended the seminar.*
