Bacolod hospitals hit full capacity for Covid patients

Almost all hospitals in Bacolod City were no longer accepting new COVID-19 patients for lack of space and personnel on Tuesday, September 14.

Bacolod City had 105 new COVID-19 cases for a total of 1,447 active cases on Tuesday, the Department of Health reported.

The Bacolod City government opened two more treatment and monitoring facilities at the Handumanan High School and the Handumanan Elementary School, Dr. Chris Sorongon, Emergency Operations Center deputy for medical data and analysis, said.

The Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) announced Tuesday night that it will temporarily suspend admission of COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 patients effective immediately until further notice.

“As of this time the emergency room and all hospital wards have reached maximum capacity on the allocated beds,” the CLMMRH advisory said.

The management advises the public to look for other alternative hospitals in the province for patient care management, it added.

“For the first time in the past 18 months of addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, the hospital is highly challenged with the current surge of cases,” it said.
The Riverside Medical Center also announced that starting Tuesday it could no longer admit COVID patients or those patients exhibiting COVID-like symptoms.

“While our hospital has the facility and equipment to accommodate patients, we still lack medical personnel to take care of them,” its advisory said.

It said asymptomatic and mild COVID cases can be accommodated if they opt to enroll in the hospital’s COVID Home Care Service.

The hospital continues to admit non-COVID patients, the Riverside Medical Center advisory added.

The Adventist Medical Center – Bacolod also announced that its dedicated isolation emergency room and COVID-19 unit have reached full capacity.

The South Bacolod General Hospital on Tuesday said that it could no longer accept COVID-19 patients because of unavailability of beds, limited manpower and machines.

The hospital will issue a new advisory once the situation changes, it said.

Other hospitals also said they had long lists of COVID-19 waitlisted patients for lack of space and personnel.*
