The Bacolod City government is hoping to expedite the process this month for the resumption of selling rice at P20 per kilo.
A purchase request has already been prepared for about 3,000 bags of rice from the supplier, Secretary to the Mayor Jose Marty Go said on Monday, Sept. 1.
The supply is already in the local warehouse of the National Food Authority, but necessary documents still need to be completed before the rice sale can continue, he said.
The city earlier bought 5,000 bags of rice in the first tranche, with some supply still remaining, and is now preparing to add 3,000 more bags, he added.
Go also said the city will revisit the Department of Agriculture’s guidelines to determine which sectors will qualify to buy the P20/kilo rice, as the agency has recently made adjustments.*
