Bacolod City officials expect huge turnouts again at vaccination centers starting Monday, July 26.

That is because aside from the rollout of 20,000 Sinovac vaccines for second doses, the city government will also continue to inoculate Bacolodnons with about 20,000 AstraZeneca doses and with what is left of its 30,000 Johnson and Johnson doses, City Administrator Em Ang said Sunday, July 25.

On Saturday, about 300 personnel of the Supreme Court, Department of Justice, Land Transportation Office and Department of Labor and Employment, and members of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines received their COVID-19 jabs at the Bacolod Hall of Justice, Executive Judge Raymond Joseph Javier said.

The vaccination drive at the Hall of Justice catered to senior citizens (A2), adults with comorbidities (A3), and frontline personnel in essential sectors (A4).

Senior citizens and persons with comorbidities were given Johnson & Johnson shots, while the rest of the personnel were given AstraZeneca jabs.

Elderly residents, nuns, staff, and caregivers at St. Vincent’s Home for the Aged in Barangay Tangub, Bacolod, were also vaccinated on Saturday, Ang said.

Elderly people especially those with underlying medical conditions living closely together in residential care facilities or homes for the aged, put residents at increased risk of infection and severe illness from COVID-19, she said.*
