Bacolod dengue cases close to 300% higher

The City Health Office recorded a 297.8 percent increase in dengue cases from Jan. 1 to Oct. 5 in Bacolod City, compared to the same period last year.

Based on the latest monitoring from Sept. 29 to Oct. 4, the CHO recorded 41 new cases, totaling 1,802 and 4 deaths in the first 40 weeks of the year, close to 300 percent higher than last year’s 453 cases and 3 deaths.

Barangay Taculing has the highest number of cases in the city with 218 followed by Bata – 159, Estefania – 140, Mansilingan – 139, Villamonte – 117, Mandalagan – 93, Alijis – 88, Tangub – 83, Granada and Sum-ag with 75 each, Cabug – 72, Banago – 68, and Singcang Airport – 67.

Meanwhile, leptospirosis cases in Bacolod have decreased by 73.7 percent, from 76 cases and 14 deaths last year to 20 cases and 6 deaths this year.*
