Bacolod curfew back to 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia has issued an executive order extending the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) in Bacolod City until January 31 and setting curfew from 11 a.m. to 4 a.m. effective today.

Leonardia, in Executive Order No. 84, Series of 2021, said daily curfew hours will continue to be observed from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., but exemptions will l be made for workers on night shifts, public emergencies like fire, ambulance services and other occasions caused by disaster, and those requiring medical assistance on board PUVs or private vehicles.

The curfew hours may be adjusted at any time within the duration of the MGCQ through the exercise by the mayor of the emergency powers granted him through a city ordinance, the EO said.

Curfew hours had been set from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. in the second half of December and cancelled on December 31 in Bacolod City.

The mayor reiterated that under MGCQ vulnerable sectors are still required to remain in their residences at all times, except when indispensable under the circumstances for obtaining essential goods and services or for work in permitted industries and offices.

Those belonging to the vulnerable sector are persons below 15 years old and over 65 years old, those with immunodeficiency, comorbidity, or other health risks regardless of age, pregnant women, and those who reside with such persons.

The selling of liquor, wine, beer or any alcoholic or intoxicating beverage will continue to be allowed only from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., the EO said.

Consumption of such alcoholic beverages, however, should only be done within private residences, it added.

For the period of this extended MGCQ, the proper wearing of face masks and face shields, hand sanitation practices, and social distancing in all public places and in public and private transport should continue to be strictly observed, the EO said.

Mass gatherings such as but not limited to movie screenings, concerts, and other entertainment activities, religious services, and work conferences will continue to be allowed provided that participants shall be limited to 50 percent of the seating or venue capacity, it said.*
