Bacolod cops seize P680K in shabu, arrest high-value drug suspect

The police seized around P680,000 worth of suspected shabu and arrested a high-value individual during a buy-bust operation in Purok 4, Brgy. Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City, on Monday, Dec. 22.

The suspect was identified as alias “Watari,” 41, unemployed, and a resident of Purok 4, Barangay Singcang-Airport.

The operation was carried out by the City Drug Enforcement Unit of the Bacolod City Police Office as part of the intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign of Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region.

Authorities said the confiscated drugs weighed about 100 grams and were recovered from the suspect after the consummation of the sale.

Police said the operation was launched after a confidential informant reported the suspect’s alleged drug activities in several barangays in Bacolod City, including Singcang-Airport, Tangub, Magsungay, and parts of the downtown area.

Investigators said surveillance confirmed the suspect’s continued involvement in illegal drug activities, noting that he had a previous drug-related arrest in 2021 and was released in 2025.

Recovered from the suspect were sachets of suspected shabu used as buy-bust and possession items, marked buy-bust money, and other non-drug items.

The seized drug evidence was documented using body-worn cameras and submitted to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination.

The suspect is now detained at the Bacolod Police Station 8, and charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act are being prepared for filing.*
