Asistio re-elected president of PCL-Neg.Occ. Chapter

La Carlota City Councilor Julius Martin Asistio was re-elected president of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) – Negros Occidental chapter in an election held in Bacolod City on Wednesday, August 13.

Except for the position of vice-president, all candidates ran unopposed, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said.

The newly elected officers will serve from 2025 to 2028.

The other PCL Negros Occidental officers are:
• Vice President: Philip Gerard B. Maisog (San Carlos City)
• Secretary General: Virgie A. Pastor (Escalante City)
• Treasurer: Victor Michael A. Javellana (Bago City)
• Auditor: Bobby P. Barrido Sr. (Manapla)
• Public Relations Officer: Greg Carlo J. Sumogat (Cauayan)
• Business Manager: Kenn Thomas P. Tirthdas (Talisay City)

The newly elected directors are:
• Dino Jose Maria Acuña (Victorias City)
• Julie Ann T. Vasquez (Himamaylan City)
• Gems Bernard V. Reliquias (Hinoba-an)
• Anne Marie N. Zayco (Kabankalan City)
• Mel Alexis T. Serondo (Sagay City)
• Giacomo M. Alonso (Pontevedra)
• Darryl F. Hinolan (Silay City)
• James Anthony Marie N. Golez (Silay City)

In his acceptance speech, Asistio thanked his colleagues for their support.

“This mandate is not just a position, but a commitment to work hand in hand with each of you in advancing the welfare of our league and the communities we serve,” he said.

He urged his fellow councilors to “move forward together, setting aside differences and focusing on our shared vision of stronger, more responsive, and more empowered local governance.”

Asistio also acknowledged the efforts of the outgoing officers, fellow councilors, and supporters who contributed to the success of the election, and pledged to lead with “integrity, transparency, and unity”.

He is the son of former Rep. Juliet Marie Ferrer of the 4th District of Negros Occidental.*
