ASF Task Force seizes P214K in pork products

Seized pork products destroyed in Kabankalan.*

The African Swine Fever Task Force seized more pork products worth P35,249 that entered Negros Occidental from October 22 to 25, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said on Tuesday, October 25.

The seized pork products worth P18,850 were shipped back and the rest valued at P16,399 were burned.

The task force has seized pork products worth P214,099 since October 15, Diaz said.

Seized from October 22 to 25 were chicharon, frozen pork, dinugu-an, embutido, chorizo, tocino, longganisa, lechon, adobo, karne prita, siomai and marinated pork from Iloilo, Cebu, Batanes, Caloocan and Aklan.

The items seized from ASF free areas like Cebu had no documents.

They were seized at the BREDCO and Banago ports, Bacolod-Silay Airport, and in Hinoba-an and Kabankalan City.

Meanwhile, officials burned 5 kilos of pork from Panay seized from a wake in Sitio Panaosawon in Barangay Tuburan, EB Magalona, on Tuesday.

The Barangay Tuburan officials, assisted by the personnel of the Municipal Agriculturist’s Office and the Provincial Veterinary Office seized the pork.

Tuburan Punong Barangay Ramonito Espacio Jr. said the meat came from Barangay Daan Banwa Tapaz town in Capiz.

The woman who hand-carried the meat with her was visiting the wake of her relative in Sitio Panaosawon.*
