Armed men ransacked the houses of two kagawads in Barangay 1, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, in search of “election money” Wednesday night, May 4.
Capt. Ryan Villasario, town police chief, said the armed suspects entered the houses of kagawads Marciano Dizon and Jose Froilan Yap to search for election money that was said to be with the barangay officials.
When they got nothing from the victims, they took the kagawads’ cellphones and fled.
Villasario said they have yet to determine whether the group was part of the New People’s Army or a political or criminal group.
He also said the incident could have been politically-motivated.
An investigation is still ongoing.*
